About Chaminda Vaas:

Warnakulasuriya Patabendige Ushantha Joseph Chaminda Vaas, (born 27 January 1974 in Mattumagala), usually known as Chaminda Vaas, is a Sri Lankan cricketer who is regarded as being the best fast bowler to come out of the country - he has been described as the 'most penetrative and successful new-ball bowler Sri Lanka have had'.[1] In 2004 he gained recognition for his talent when he was selected for the World Test and one-day XI at the inaugural ICC Awards. He was once again selected for the World Test XI at the 2005 awards.

Chaminda Vaas is the most successful and accurate left-arm seamer in world cricket. Perhaps, the longest serving cricketer for Sri Lanka, Vaas has the skill to effectively swing and seam the ball. On more than occasion he has single handedly won matches for his country. The left-armer’s main weapon while bowling is his indipper. Vaas opens the bowling for Sri Lanka. Also among his armory is an off cutter which is well camouflaged. Although his pace has dropped over the years, he has superior control of line and length. A workhorse type bowler, Vaas claimed a hat-trick with the first three balls of the match against Bangladesh in the 2003 World Cup. Over the years, the Sri Lankan seamer has gained a good repute as an all-rounder with his sincere batting.
